Essential Tree Maintenance on The Tyning

Starting Wednesday 22 February

Tree works will be taking place along the top of The Tyning, starting on Wednesday 22 February.

Following last year’s professional tree inspection of trees on Parish Council owned land , critical tree works were undertaken in July last year and this week’s works will see the continuation of essential tree maintenance.

The works will include removing deadwood from five trees to keep them in a good and safe condition.

Work will also be undertaken on seven Ash trees and an additional multi-stemmed Ash tree, all of which are suffering from Ash dieback.

The Parish Council is highly mindful of its climate and nature emergency resolutions, and has been liaising with the tree surgeons to ensure the minimum of intervention that is needed to ensure public safety will be undertaken. Unfortunately, this may mean felling to ground level in some cases; the tree surgeons will be working on a tree-by-tree basis and removing only what is necessary to ensure public safety.

Once the works have been completed the Parish Council will look at ways of managing this area to support the natural environment.

Further information about the tree survey and tree works can be found on the Freshford website:
