Playing Out

Background

The Parish Council held a community meeting last April where residents identified the key traffic issues within the community.

One of the issues that was identified was the problems being created by the parking around the school when dropping off and picking up children.

Issues relating to school traffic seem to have been increasing with increasing problems especially for residents living near the school.

The school has been working with B&NES looking into the overall traffic issues relating to the school.

A ‘Park and Stride’ day was held with parking being encouraged at the Inn at Freshford, Brown’s Field and St Mary’s Limpley Stoke and parents and children then walked to the school from there. This day was successful.

The next step is to pilot a ‘Playing Out’ day, which prevents any parking along Freshford Lane and is effectively forcing wider use of the Park and Stride approach.

Freshford Lane will be closed for a short while for this pilot on Friday 22nd March between 2-4pm.

A community meeting is being planned to enable residents to find out more about the Playing Out day which will include a Q&A session to address any concerns.
