Tony came and gave us a talk last year on the History and Mystery of Hill Figures.
A study of names can tell us much about the way of life in the past, from politics and religion, to local geography, farming, industry, transport and ownership. Tony Painter, local history author and former MoD geographer examines place names, ranging from the changing world around us down to our towns and villages, streets, fields, pubs and even houses. Tony will include some interesting Wiltshire and Somerset names.
